hoo-hoo

hoo-hoo
hoo-hoo

hoo-hoo’s
reverberate down the chimney
into the bestir of awakening

my body yawns with stinging spasms
muscles react like hard knots
resisting the untying

the morning dove calls again

hoo-hoo
hoo-hoo

she hoo-hoo’s for me

hoo-hoo
hoo-hoo

  1. Oh I love the simplicity of this and the dove calling you to wake. Thank you for sharing!

  2. My mourning doves are among my dearest friends. I can't remember which, but during a very compelling scene in a film... frustrated I can't remember which... there is complete silence and right as the scene is about to end... the mourning dove sings out... hoo hoo hoo hoo... I whispered, aloud... bad me... "a mourning dove!"

:~) So much for self control.

Your words spoke to me today, Anke! THANK YOU!

  3. I like how, out of all the sounds you could have focused on in this poem about waking up, you select the one that I'm sure so many people have heard, yet don't even give a second thought to. :)
